In this class, students will learn the twelve basic principles of animation. They will learn to recognize these principles in their favorite animated work, and apply the ideas in their own, custom animated projects over the course of the class. Students will create a variety of classic-style hand-drawn projects as well as computer animated projects for text and title sequences.
For hand drawn unit, Tablet with free animation app Picsart Animator (and ideally a Stylus) OR Laptop with free animation software Krita. For computer animation unit, Laptop with Adobe After Effects installed or access to Adobe Creative Cloud
Johnny teaches 2D, 3D, and motion graphics animation, blending core principles with project-based learning. With a background in visual effects and training from USC School of Cinematic Arts, he helps students of all levels develop technical skills and create their own animated projects.
